How it was vs. How it is.

Once kept outdoors, man’s best friend has been invited in - now sharing much of our time, experiences, and the living spaces we occupy.

At East Mission, we are pet enthusiasts and product designers. We believe that the products that we use to care for our pets should be a reflection of the pride we take to cultivate companionship and the lifestyle we’ve chosen to pursue. Through thoughtful design and attention to detail, our mission is to better capture this meaning and create products that are as beautiful as the bond you share between you and your pup.

Markets sometimes need a refresh when quantity beats quality. East Mission was born after countless fetch sessions using every dog toy imaginable. Left unimpressed by the selection of toys and how they fit into our home-life, we decided that it was time for a change. We set out to create a collection of high performance toys that never sacrifice functionality or aesthetics.

The modern day pet has become an increasingly prevalent part of our everyday lives, with owners sharing their expectations and lifestyle with their beloved pups. However, the pet culture craze was rooted in our society dating back centuries. Representations of this are no more profound than the 100 year old Labrador statue that sits and watches over East Mission St. in Santa Barbara, CA. Let this company also represent the love and dedication we receive from and owe to our pets.

We are a team of engineers and creatives based in Madison, WI.

At East Mission, work and play go hand in hand. We love our pets as much as love dreaming up new ideas on how to serve and care for them. As product designers, we’re driven to create a better experience for modern pet owners and their companions. We’re based in Madison - where you’ll find us enjoying the many open green spaces and beautiful lakes.

How It Started

  • 1. Dream it. (2021)

    Meet Winnie. Our inspiration and toy loving machine. Always needing something to work on, her house became a mess of toys and dog accessories. What an eye-sore!

  • 2. Design it. (Aug. 2023)

    All of our big ideas start with some sketches. If we’re happy with that, we then create a 3D representation of the form to realize our initial concepts.

  • 3. Prototype it. (Oct. 2023)

    Using our in-house 3D printing capabilities, we can create a plastic form, modifying the shape, edges, and features of the mock-up while in our hands.

  • 4. Finalize it. (Oct 2023)

    Photorealistic rendering can showcase your ideas in an ideal environment. Here, our mock-ups show the ball’s final design and packaging before production.

  • 5. Build it. (Nov. 2023)

    Commiting to a final design and finding a manufacturing partner takes time, patience, and experience. With the right team, things turn out just right.

  • 6. Test it. (Dec. 2023)

    Believe it or not this picture was taken in early December in Wisconsin. Zoey, our test model, and her two siblings had a blast testing the fetch balls for the first time.

  • 7. Sell it. (Mar. 2024)

    Launching our first product has come with plenty of hurdles but nothing easy is worth doing. Thankfully our first customers were our friends while we expanded our offerings to our own website and several online marketplaces.

  • 8. Grow it. (June 2024)

    Our focus is on running a sustainable business and growing our customer base and offerings. Thank you for your support and stay tuned for more!
